Steal Your Face Death Reaper Hoodie

This is it homies!!! The “Steal Your Face” Death Reaper Hoodie… the final piece in completing our mission to bring Deathside to the world. This design is where streetwear, high fashion, and psychedelics all collide to form a hoodie that refuses to be overlooked when worn. We took three cultural influences that have had a lot of impact on our creativity: sacred geometry, the Grateful Dead, and Virgil. We’ve always been obsessed with the intricacies of sacred geometry and how profound it is that they arise in psychedelic visions as if they’re built into the fabric of reality. The Grateful Dead’s music has always been a part of our playlist long before we understood what was being communicated. But as kids what really magnified their presence was all of the psychedelic art that was as much a part of the culture as the discography. And finally in our opinion the person that has made the largest impact on fashion recently, Virgil. Although this has almost become a meme on the internet for amateur designers trying to sell why they’re dedicated to this game, for us it’s a little different. We’ve been skateboarders since the 90’s. It has always had the largest impact on our perspective of the world and our overall creative expression. Though street wear has come to represent a wide range street cultures, it all started with skateboarding. Skateboarders have always had a unique style that has been part of our essence. And anyone making “street wear” at its core is just copying what skateboarders have always done. This is why Virgil impacted us so much. Most people will think of him as a designer but we always saw him as a skateboarder who trojan horsed the culture to the top of the fashion game. The fanboys will think of him as revolutionary but we think he was just low-key representing the same thing that all of us represent when we discover the love of skating as a youth. Skater’s have always had the most steez and when combined with effortless tricks, turns into one of the greatest pieces of moving art to exist in the world. When a skater is doing a banger everyone including the non skaters can’t help but pay attention. And that’s the same thing we set out to achieve with the “Steal Your Face” Death Reaper hoodie. Still photos cannot truly grasp the beauty of this hoodie. It something to be experienced in person. Not only is the fit immaculate, but when the light reflects of the crystal designs on this piece it will definitely Steal Your Face! We set out to create novelty pieces and this one is it! With a very limited quantity we’ll probably never be able to get away with this design again, so don’t expect to see it once it’s gone, except on the drippiest person you know flexing on a Saturday night, or some steez’d out skater fucking shit up in the streets!

The Death Reaper Hoodie is the culmination of 18 months of painstaking revisions to design a hoodie that was on pair with the top designers in the world. We started with three of our favorite silhouettes from our favorite hoodie designers: Rick Owens, Vetements, and Gucci. We then carefully selected our favorite elements from each design and combined them to form the first pattern. From there we reconstructed the hoodie two more times to ensure the dimensions matched our exact specifications. It wasn’t simply a look we were aiming for, it was a feel. By the third attempt we had achieved the look and feel that was unique to Deathside. We tried two different embroideries, three different types of cotton, weights, and even finishes to get exactly what we wanted. This hoodie has a slightly oversized feel with dropped shoulders and “bat wings” for that lofty feeling we want in a comfortable hoodie. We oversized the hood to make it feel like we were Death incarnate hidden from the elements when put on. As fashion heads we wanted a hood that could block out the world when we want to just listen to our AirPods and not be bothered by weirdos trying to intrude on our personal space. We decided on a full zip for maximum drip and a slight crop in the back to give a more elevated look. We also extended the length of the sleeves to make sure we had a slightly baggier street vibe. And to finish it off we embroidered our custom Death Reaper Logo on the hood with a 50,000+ stitch count to make sure everyone knows you repping Deathside when you come mobbing down the street or into the underground rave. The entire vision of Deathside started with this hoodie and we refused to release the brand til it was perfect. A lot of energy was put into this design to make sure it matched the level we’re trying to achieve as a brand.
